Your phone's magnetometer sensor is read several times per second. The heading is smoothed using linear angle interpolation so the dial rotates gracefully rather than snapping. The rose counter-rotates while the needle stays fixed — just like a real compass.

Quick Start
How to Use the Compass Pro App
After installing, hold your phone flat and parallel to the ground with the screen facing up. The compass dial will spin to show your current heading. If readings seem off, calibrate by waving your phone in a figure-8 motion three times.
1Switch modes using the mode bar
Two rows of 4 tabs sit between your heading display and the compass dial. Tap any tab to switch instantly: Magnetic, True N, Qibla, Lock (row 1) and Sun, Speed, Vastu, Waypoint (row 2).
2Change theme or dial style
Tap the ≡ icon (top-left) to open the settings drawer. Tap any theme tile or style tile — the change applies immediately across every element of the app.
3Use Qibla mode for prayer
Tap the Qibla tab. Grant location permission if prompted. The green crescent arrow on the dial points toward Mecca. Slowly rotate your body until the panel shows "You are facing the Qibla" (within ±3°).
4Drop a Waypoint
Switch to Waypoint mode, tap "Drop Pin Here". Your current location is saved. Walk anywhere — the purple arrow always points back. The distance and ETA update live. Tap Maps to open Google Maps at the pin, or Share to send coordinates to someone else.
5Calibrate if readings drift
Wave your phone slowly in a figure-8 pattern three times. This resets the magnetometer calibration. Avoid using the app near large metal objects, magnetic cases, or electrical machinery — all of which can distort readings.

Yes — completely. The compass heading reads directly from your phone's magnetometer sensor. True North, Qibla, Sun times, Speed tracking, and Vastu all work offline using your device's GPS (which also needs no internet). The only feature that requires an internet connection is the "Open in Maps" button in Waypoint mode, which launches Google Maps in your browser.
Magnetic north points to the Earth's magnetic north pole, currently located in northern Canada. True north (geographic north) points to the geographic North Pole — the axis around which the Earth rotates. The angle between them at your location is called magnetic declination. This app calculates it precisely for your GPS position using the WMM-2020 model and corrects your heading automatically in True North mode.
The Qibla bearing is calculated using the haversine formula on a spherical Earth model, accurate to within 0.01° from any point on Earth. The app confirms alignment when you are within ±3° of the correct bearing. For reference, most Islamic scholars accept a direction within 45° as sufficient for prayer — this app provides far greater precision. The Qibla calculation updates live as you move to a new city or country.
